New video casts doubt on DaBaby's claim that he killed a teen in self-defense

New video calls into question rapper DaBaby’s claim that he shot and killed a teenager in self-defense in 2018.

DaBaby, whose real name is Jonathan Kirk, was involved in a tragic confrontation that resulted in the death of 19-year-old Jaylin Craig. Kirk’s accusations were eventually dropped in March 2019 after a crucial witness failed to appear in court.

The previously unseen video recording of the event on November 5, 2018, at a Walmart in North Carolina, shows a different point of view of the fatal shooting that Sunday.

Jonathan “DaBaby” Kirk, Henry Douglas, and Craig are seen fighting in the video. DaBaby appears to have started the fight by storming at Douglas.

At one point, Craig is seen standing off to the side while DaBaby charges at Douglas, tackling him and striking him.

Craig then appears to take a gun from his pocket, though it is unclear whether he put it away. DaBaby then pulled out his firearm and shot Craig several times, according to the video.

DaBaby’s account of events depicted the encounter in a different light. In a social media video from 2018, he said that he was confronted by gun-wielding individuals who threatened him, his daughter, and his son.
